Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s Degree in History
History allows high-performing students to participate in its Accelerated Bachelor’s-to-Master’s (ABM) program. Those participating in the program will be allowed to enroll in up to twelve hours of select graduate coursework during their senior year, which will apply to both their B.A. and M.A. degrees. Eligible applicants must: - Be within 30 hours of completing their bachelor’s degree
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.2 on all undergraduate coursework and a minimum 3.5 GPA in their History courses.
- Be provisionally admitted to the Graduate School and History M.A. program
ABM students are eligible to enroll in the following graduate courses: - HIST 5030 – Research Methods
- HIST 5035 – Historiography
- Any course with a number of 5100 or above for which the student has not already taken the 4000-level counterpart
Once admitted to the ABM program, students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA while completing their bachelor’s degrees. Those who fail to meet this requirement will be denied continuance in the program at the end of the semester in which they fail to meet the minimum G.P.A. requirement. Graduate classes taken prior to a denial of continuance will count toward undergraduate coursework but will not fulfill graduate requirements. Likewise, those denied continuance will be ineligible to take additional graduate courses until after they have completed their bachelor’s degrees and been fully readmitted to the Graduate School. |
