CSCI 3053 - Computer Architecture & Organization


3 cr.

This course explores the critical role of computer architecture and organization in modern computing, emphasizing the transition from sequential to parallel processing. Students will gain a deeper understanding of hardware environments, ranging from low-end embedded processors to high-end enterprise multiprocessors, and their interaction with higher software layers. Topics include digital logic and digital systems, machine-level data representation, assembly level machine organization, memory hierarchy, interfacing and communication, heterogeneous, secure processor and quantum architectures. This course equips students with the knowledge to analyze and leverage specific architectural components to enhance system performance and adapt to evolving computational challenges.
