POST-BACCALAUREATE CERTIFICATE IN SECONDARY EDUCATION

 

The Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Secondary Education program is designed for individuals who have earned a baccalaureate degree in a discipline other than education and who are seeking teacher certification in Secondary Education (Grades 6-12, with certification areas in Biology, Chemistry, English, Math, Social Studies, Foreign Language: Spanish, Foreign Language: French). The practitioner teacher program is a streamlined certification path that combines intensive coursework and full-time teaching. This program is structured as a 3 - semester - 21 hour program with full-time teaching required in the final two semesters. The Louisiana Department of Education also requires (1) a baccalaureate degree, (2) the minimum GPA requirement 2.20 OR higher on a 4.00 scale (3) Pass all parts of the CORE PRAXIS I test (Math, Reading, Writing) OR have an ACT score of at least 22 to waive this test OR have a Master’s degree in any subject.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS


  1. Baccalaureate Degree and Admission to ULM
  2. Minimum GPA requirement 2.20 on a 4.00 scale
  3. Pass all parts of the CORE PRAXIS I test (Math, Reading, Writing) OR have an ACT score of at least 22 to waive this test OR have a Master’s degree in any subject (Prior to admission)
  4. Pass required PRAXIS content exam (Prior to Semester II)
  5. Minimum GPA requirement 2.75 in POST BACC coursework (Prior to Semester III)
  6. Pass required PRAXIS PLT exam (Prior to Semester III)
