HLST 3005 - Professionalism in Healthcare


3 cr.

This course is designed to help students prepare for careers in healthcare by enhancing soft skills necessary to be successful healthcare professionals. Students will examine concepts of professionalism such as career planning, communication, personal image and interpersonal skills. In addition, students will learn how to create profession plans that require them to research career options and potential employers, job shadow with industries and design professional resumes. Particular emphasis is placed on practicing soft skills such as social networking, working with others, personal management and, verbal and non-verbal communication.

Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or approval of program director
