ULM ALCOHOL EVENT POLICY CHECKLIST


For a student organization to allow alcohol at an event in a designated venue on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, the organization must complete the following checklist:

  1. Set up a meeting with the ULM Vice President of Student Affairs at least three weeks prior to the scheduled event.
  2. Once the ULM Vice President  of Student Affairs has approved  alcohol being allowed at the student organization’s event, an approved outside vendor must be secured.
  3. A copy of the vendor’s alcohol license to sell alcohol “off premises” (away from their primary business location) must be presented to the facilities coordinator at least one week prior to the event.
  4. Only certified Bar Tenders over the age 21 will be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages. Copies of Bar Tenders certification must obtained and presented to the Facilities Coordinator.
  5. The organization must secure at least one police officer to check IDs and one officer to stay with each place an alcohol vendor is set up. University Police will determine the total number of officers  needed to work the event. Be prepared to pay officers and supervisors (if applicable) the night of the event.
  6. The student organization must have wristbands for all individuals that are 21 years of age or older that can be marked/punched when alcohol is purchased.
  7. Students will be allowed a maximum of one drink per hour for the scheduled event (three drinks for a three hour event).
  8. The Student Organization must have a ULM faculty or staff representative present for the duration of the event.
  9. Once all things are complete, the organization’s event manager must meet with the Office of Student Life in the Student’s Center Room 258 to make sure all directions are followed and all paper work is complete.

If this policy is not followed and completed in a timely manner, the event will be canceled. All other policies outlined in the student policy manual must be followed or the organization risks suspension.
