Program Admission

In addition to the university requirements for admission, all applicants must meet the following criteria:

Regular Admission

• a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 and above (based on a 4.0 scale), from a regionally accredited university
  OR
• 3.0 on last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework from a regionally accredited university
   

Conditional Admission

• a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.50 and above (based on a 4.0 scale), from a regionally accredited university
  OR

• 2.75 on last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework from a regionally accredited university
  OR
• Minimum formula score of 622.6 (2.2 GPA x 283 GRE)

Applicants for Alternative Certification degrees must meet the additional admission requirements specified for those programs.

Program Requirements

Applicants to the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction must hold a teacher’s certificate issued by the Louisiana Department of Education or its equivalent. A minimum of 36 semester hours must be earned for the degree with 18 hours of core and 18 hours of approved electives.

Pursuit of add-on certification(s) via the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction must adhere to state requirements for the specifice certification sought. Application for certification must be made by applicants directly to the Louisiana Department of Education.  The School of Education Certification Office can advise students regarding these options.  Successful candidates can also earn their endorsement for Teacher Leader. 

A Plan of Study must be submitted to the School of Education upon admission to the program and approved during the first semester of enrollment.

Note: To receive graduate credit for a 4000-level course designated “For Undergraduate and Graduates,” a student must be in graduate admission status at the time credit is earned in the course. Credit earned in undergraduate admission status cannot be changed to graduate credit.
