Program Admission

Applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher will qualify for regular admission status.
Applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 - 2.74 will qualify for conditional admission status.

In addition to the university requirements for admission, all applicants must meet the following:

1. Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited university;
2. Passing scores on state-designated PRAXIS II content exam.

• CURR 5014 - Classroom, Behavior, and Instructional Management K-12
• CURR 5042 - Secondary School Curriculum
• CURR 5047 - Educational Techniques for Diverse Learners in Inclusive Classrooms
• CURR 5056 - Individualizing Instruction in Secondary Schools

• 6 hours of internship, CURR 5064 - Internship in Secondary Education  

• CURR 5073 - Assessment and Accountability
• EDFN 5024 - Utilization of Instructional Technologies
• EDFN 5081 - Research
• PSYC 5005 - Advanced Adolescent Psychology
• READ 5019 - Teaching Reading for Secondary Teachers

Total Hours 36

To successfully complete CURR 5064  , candidates must meet all other eligibility requirements for initial teacher licensure in Louisiana, which include meeting Program Admission requirements above, satisfactory performance in specified courses, and passing scores on state-designated PRAXIS II tests.

Graduate Courses

Note: To receive graduate credit for a 4000-level course designated “For Undergraduate and Graduates,” a student must be in graduate admission status at the time credit is earned in the course. Credit earned in undergraduate admission status cannot be changed to graduate credit.
