Program Admission


Application Deadline is February 1


Admission to the Master of Arts degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy is a two step process.  All applicants must apply and be admitted to the graduate school prior to consideration by the Marriage and Family Therapy Program Committee.  Admission decisions are at the discretion of the Program Admissions Committee of the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. An applicant for admission to the Master of Arts degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy will meet one of the following criteria:

  1. A minimum undergraduate grade-point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale); and
  2. A minimum combined score of 283 on the GRE General Test (143 Verbal + 138 Quantitative); or
  3. A total of at least 1283 points based upon the formula (400 x cumulative GPA + combined GRE General Test score).

Total course requirements: 60 hours.


A total of 500 client contact hours must be approved and documented by the Clinical Director of the Marriage and Family Therapy program. A thesis is optional.
