POST BACCALAUREATE CERTIFICATE IN UAS MANAGEMENT

This Post Baccalaureate Certificate in UAS Management is designed for individuals who have earned a baccalaureate degree and who are seeking functional competency in UAS (drone) management. The Unmanned Aircraft Systems PBC is offered to those students whose career objectives are aimed at the emerging unmanned aircraft systems industry. The program provides the breadth and depth of instruction needed to ensure graduates are prepared to work as pilots/operators and/or developmental team members of unmanned aircraft systems while fully understanding the operational and safety environments of the National Airspace System. Note: The UAS is an emerging industry and under strict control of the FAA. Currently the only agencies allowed to operate UAS are government, state / local government, and qualifying universities. The program focuses specifically on managing UAS and should not, therefore, be considered as equivalent to the comprehensive aviation degree program offered by ULM.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAM CONTENT REQUIREMENTS

  1. Baccalaureate Degree and Admission to ULM
  2. Current FAA regulations require that any individual who controls/flies an UAS in class “G” airspace must have passed the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test. To fly in other than “G” airspace it will require at least an FAA Private Pilot certificate. For individuals who have not accomplished this pre-requisite, they may take AVIA 1010  and AVIA 1011  to prepare for the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test.
  3. As some of the technologies with UAS fall under International Traffic in Arms Regulations, and in compliance with US Department of State, students wishing to pursue the courses must be able to prove United Stated citizenship prior to enrolling in the courses.
  4. Successful completion of each required course listed below with a minimum grade of “C.”
