The MLS Bridge Program offers an opportunity for the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) who is a graduate of a MLT program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), who is certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and who is currently working in a medical laboratory to earn the B.S. degree in Medical Laboratory Science. The individual must hold a current MLT license in the state in which they practice, if applicable. Qualified MLTs may be awarded 30-credit hours for ASCP certification. Applicants for admission to the MLS Bridge program, in addition to meeting the requirements for admission to the University, must complete all required science and general education courses of the pre-MLS curriculum. Thirty-one credit hours of Medical Laboratory Science courses offered online are required to complete the MLS Bridge program. Verification of clinical competencies required in the MLS courses will be assessed in an approved medical laboratory by an approved preceptor. The total number of hours for the B.S. degree in Medical Laboratory Science is 120.
